I just hosed the video on my beloved 2015 MBP. I closed the lid with a pack of gum exactly in the worst place possible, in the top left corner next to the hinge. Lightly mashed it enough that there are bad vertical lines randomly, bad enough to be blocking the left side. And, weirdly enough, there is a fuzzy mirror of the top menu at bottom of the screen
Gently bending the screen gets it 75% better for an hour. Sadly, opening it up and reseating the connections didn't help (and also sad is that I did the same thing to a MBP 10 years ago closing the cover and pushing against the video card.) Anyway, I'm replacing it with an upgrade but for various reasons am hoping to be able to purchase a MBA to tide me over for a few months before I get likely another but more current DAW MBP.
So, I'm wondering if anyone can offer up any experiences, good or bad, with any recent configuration of MBA they happened to use Reaper on (with an interface, not system ins and outs). 8 or 16 G RAM and 8 or 10 Core. It's destined to be a 512G internal (256 not enough and faces the issue of slower SSD in new models, which other sizes don't, 1T not needed).
I do zero gaming. Some graphics but on a totally plebeian level these days. Looking to get a less expensive solution to tide me over than a fully tricked out MBP, which will hopefully be managed later on. I don't foresee any humongous track numbers or majorly stressed out DSP during this time and new MBAs leave my 2015 MBP, which still serves well, in the dust anyway. But specs are one thing and real world is another.
Thanks for any wisdom here
