Default New PC, still a crapshoot?

It's been a while since I upgraded. Are new pcs these days in general stable for audio there days? I built my current audio computer using the list of parts from an audio computer vendor. Is this necessary today?

new machines , provided you use good parts are incredibly suited to DAW these days. Windows 11 needs no tweaking except for power settings and you're good to go.

Head over to gearspace and check the computer build thread for advice on the good stuff

"New PCs these days" range from circa 2001 CPU speeds (but modern graphics) to gamer madness builds. You do have to at least look at a couple numbers. Lots of high end stuff from the last 10 years or so out there on the used market too. There's more gaslighting and brochure speak to navigate but there sure are a lot of choices.

If you build a Frankenstein PC, there's some crapshooting involved. Good idea to check the specs first for compatibility, particularly your mobo's RAM QVL sheet.

Common sense also suggests getting as many parts from the same manufacturer as possible would increase compatibility but it's impossible to do this for every single part.

Best odds are getting a pre-built machine from a trusted builder of DAW machines. These part combos are likely to have undergone the most extensive field testing. You'll pay a premium for it though.

Worth noting that if you go Ryzen, the ryzen optimized RAM is highly preferable, even though it costs a bit more than standard versions

Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll wait as my daw is glitch free and never comes close to maxing out. I put a SSD with win 10 and some more ram in there a couple years ago.
