Poor's man Poly aftertouch
Little script that converts channel pressure to key pressure on the last note pressed.
You need a keyboard that sends aftertouch, thought it's easy to change the code using a CC instead.
A CC is used to keep pressure to the current key, so a new note won't steal pressure assignement. I'm using a foot pedal for this.
Then you need a synth that supports Poly Aftertouch and I don't think there are too many of them.
I tested using Independence Pro 2.0, but Independence Free should do as well.
Just add a poly aftertouch modifier and assign it to volume, pan, pitch, filter (freq or resonance). It's also possible to control an LFO, a Free Envelope or a Step Modulator (need to add them first).
Also with Inde you can assign the modifier to a specific layer, could be a way to bring to the front a single note of a section from the background.

Not too many I'm afraid.
I think all Linplug synth do support it, not sure about the free ones.
2-3 years ago I made a vst-midi plug (polychannel) that would send each note to a different channel with a bunch of options on how to send cc, wheels,.. which would let you have some control on a single key at a time.
But having to create always a couple of instances and edit each of them every time you made a change wasn't too much fun

Hay mbncp, I'd liek to thank you for making this here. I'm going to try it out later on today. I've been looking for something like this for a while.
I only have seen 1 free synth that supports Polyphonic Aftertouch: Linplug AlphaCM from Computer Music.... at least that's what it said in the manual. but the full version of Alpha DOES support it though. I'm going to check that out when I get home as well.

Ok... did some more research and found some synths that do Poly aftertouch correctly after using this plugin (remember, it only send poly aft for the LAST note played and AFT is ignored for other keys):
FREE:
-Free Alpha (Not Alpha CM....Free ALpha has only 4 modulation slots & has the ability to assign Poly aftertouch as a source)
-Oatmeal (poly aft is assigned to the main oscillator & filter cutoff automatically, there is also a section to control how much aft is going to be received by Oatmeal & you can change between channel & poly aftertouch)
COMMERCIAL:
-Kontakt
-Battery
-Rob Papen Blue
-Virtual Sampler 3
NEW MIDI HARDWARE THAT SEND POLY AFTERTOUCH (VERY limited....let's hope this changes in the future):
-AKAI MPD Pad Controller Series
-AKAI MPC Series
-Roland Handsonic
-VAX66 (the folding midi controller)
_Rhodes Chroma

The Arturia KeyLab series (and I believe also their BeatStep series) also have polyphonic aftertouch, but only on the pads, not on the regular (piano) keys.

omg
OMFG. I've been looking for something like this. AMAZING.
And it works so good. I can't believe this script isn't more widely advertised and used. I used it with my Novation Peak and a channelaftertouch keyboard. it was... AMAAAAAzzzing....

hello, I tried to make a cymbal choke with a cymbal pad and a roland module (cy-12 and TD-12) by this js and Reasamplomatic5k by assigning the obey note off to the aftertouch of the notes of both hitting areas of the cymbal pad. The cymbal pad has two hit zones, bow and edge and its edge captures the pressure to trigger the aftertouch which, in the module, causes a choke. However, if I can get the aftertouch to work and cause the choke on the bow, the edge doesn't respond.
these are the messages to be retrieved by ReacontrolMidi.
I successively hit the bow and then the edge... followed by the choke of course.
