Default What's the Best Way To Set Up Kontakt for Orchestra Libs?

I know in Kontakt you can load several instruments in 1 Kontakt and each have their own midi channel.

So what's the best way to set this up in Reaper?

Like... if I load a String section with 4 different parts and each have their own midi track, do I record the midi ALL on ONE track but each have their own midi lane or something?

Any tips would be most appreciated (as always)

Thanks!

Don't put them on one track, it'll be a mess to edit.
Kontakt on one track and each separate instrument on their own tracks, sending to the kontakt track forcing the midi channel is what I do. Keeps it easy.

So does each instrument in Kontakt have their own midi channel that you transmit to like strings on midi 1 and cellos on midi 2, etc?

Then... switch your midi channel on your keyboard controller to record the midi on another track by creating multiple tracks and disabling the Master Send in Kontakt (or something).

I'm not in my studio right now so hard visualize it.

Thanks!

Yes each Kontakt instrument is assigned a midi channel.
(Remember there are no standards. 10 is often used for drums but it's not mandatory.)

When recording, set the track to pick up all channels from your keyboard.

In the send of the track, force the output to the instrument channel you want played.
