Default Here's another one - odd midi controller behavior: FIXED!

I'm hoping all these bumps get smoothed out, before I end up running back to Sonar with my tail between my legs! :-0

My controller is a Korg PadKontrol. How is it that I can have the midi input set correctly, Reaper shows me I'm controlling the track with the little red box in the meter, and yet there's no sound?

If I go into the Midi Editor, the sounds play fine from the piano roll. I know the PadKontrol only transmits on Ch.10, but setting to this in either the track input or the Midi Editor makes no difference. Besides, I never needed to do this on my old computer.

Everything seems perfect, yet no sound. Any thoughts???

Oh, and here's another part of it:

If I call up my ReaDrums from my Track Template, it works fine and the PadKontrol is perfect. But if I just create a Sampl0matic and set it up the same way, no dice - same problem!

EDIT: Just tried the same procedure with EZD, with the same results as ReaDrums. (Great drum programs think alike?) heh...

Once again, I'm a complete idiot! :-0

I'll sum it up in a simple lesson:
Don't forget to check if your track has a monitoring option enabled!

<smacks forehead>
How do you people put up with me? Anyways, now if I could just solve/fix the blinking problem, I dare say I'll be up-to-snuff with the new daw!

James -

Is there anybody here who hasn't done this at some time or another, and then felt a complete dickhead afterwards?

It seriously makes me wonder whether it might not be a good idea to have some obvious indicator when input monitoring is on - eg, just as the red light comes on when armed for recording, maybe have it flash or something when input monitoring is on.

Now wouldn't that be nice?

Yup I agree. Reapz is a little light on the lights and vis feedback. I could think of 20 things that I'd like to know, but have to scroll, drop-down, right-click or open to know.
and yet there is so much unused space.

not that I ma plugging Sonar-Like Clutter...
sry that was unfair, you can hide what you don't want in sonar right? hmmmm.
