Default possible to click and drag to highlight clips?

My goal is to be able to do what Jacob Collier does in this clip

https://youtu.be/oQ8xKanSYUg?t=216

In Logic, he's able to click and drag over a selection of regions and solo them. In Reaper, the default for click and drag is to make a time selection, but I'd prefer to be able to just highlight a selection of regions with a "click and drag" and then subsequently solo them with a keyboard shortcut (or do whatever else you can do with a region after highlighting it)

1. Is it possible to do this in reaper with scripts and stuff? If it is, can someone explain it to me? I'm very inexperienced when it comes to the actions menu and reascripts, so you'll probably need to explain in more detail.

2. If I change my click and drag to highlighting regions, would it still be possible to do time selection stuff? Because I do use that. Maybe it's possible to do click and drag somewhere on the top bar for a time selection?

Thanks for your help!
