Default Using keyboard shortcuts when plugin window has focus

Hi,

I'm sure there's a setting for this, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

I want keystrokes to pass through to Reaper when a plugin window has focus. I can find the option to pass all input to the plugin, but not the reverse.

Ta,
Bod.

That is not possible (yet?) in Reaper. You can however use
any shortcut that uses any ctrl/cmd/alt modifier (not 'shift'),
others will sadly not work.

That's good to know.

What about Shift-Ctrl, Shift-Alt, Shift-Win, Shif Ctr-Alt, etc...

As long as there are ctrl/cmd/alt modifiers present, the
shortcut gets passed to main window. So a combination
with shift will work.

Great, my X-Key controller is loaded up with "Ctrl-Alt-Win-Key" combinations, I use them and their Shifted versions for my most common actions. Might take a new look at the key sends from my Contour Shuttle based on this information, thank you Eric...

In response to above messages.
It would be so great to have an option in Reaper that passes through ALL keyboard shortcuts when a Plugin window is in focus.

For example:

When i am not in my home studio and use my macbook without any MIDI keyboard hooked up, i use Virtual Midi Keyboard window in Reaper, but then i constantly have to switch between Virtually Midi Keyboard and Plugin window.
This is really annoying.

Yeah it would be soooo awesome if all of your keyboard input could be redirected to the plugin

A "pass through" checkbox in the action list (for each command) appears to be the most universal solution.
The "modifier thing" is great info, unfortunately it's kinda backwards for me.
I tend to invest weeks building my personal set of KCs so that all my bread-and-butter functions work with a single click ...
ymmv,

Only true, mind you, if the shortcut isn't present in the open window.

For e.g. Ctrl + R is not passed through because it is Replace FX in the FX window but if it were passed through it would be to start recording in the arrange.

Why on earth can only shortcuts WITH modifier key be passed through to main window when plugin window has focus ?

So i have to provide all my mainwindow shortcuts for eg zooming, transport functions etc with a modifier key to work when plugin window has focus.

That's really annoying and i don't see the logic of it, plus it limits me in having freedom to 100% customize my shortcuts.

I am a Reaper lover for sure, but this issue is one big shortcoming for me.

Hi Bod,
-- where is that option, couldn't find it
-- what exactly happens when you switch it off ?
thanks,
Rhino
