freezing with multiple project tabs

i am getting a lot of crashes with multiple project tabs, apparently centering around ctrl.rpp

background project tab processes are enabled.

i load ctrl.rpp first, and then instances of active default.rpp. eventually, active default.rpp freezes as reaper attempts to load fx in the active default.rpp. this crash eats my asio driver and requires a pc restart.

if i do not load ctrl.rpp, this does not occur.
edit: more info, if i turn off "run background projects" and "run stopped background projects" it also does not occur. but that's not an option, as i need midi from ctrl.rpp.

The project files seem to contain a lot of custom JS FX and SWS, any chance you can strip that down to a set of minimal RPPs that use only stock plug-uns and no SWS functions?

working on it. that is a lot of spaghetti to untangle.

question: i've noticed, when opening rpps in an editor, that even blank rpps have a TON of data in them....why is that?

this one is a ctrl A - deleted version of active default. i just noticed that it has shit from defaults YEARS ago since i just edit on top and resave.

my original active default.rpp was about 1 mb. i just cut and pasted all the tracks into a (truly) blank project and saved it... 100kb. wat was all that extra stuff?
