Default REAPER - The User Friendly DAW

Hello Everyone!

DOWNLOAD IS DOWN.

This is a little thing I put together that makes REAPER much more user friendly upon following the well laid out README. It includes a small selection of both 32-bit and 64-bit plugins, and a couple other little goodies, including a SUPER SMALL sample library.

If there are any improvements that should be made, PLEASE let me know... I would like for this to become something that a newcomer can come to and easily get on their digital audio feet

EDIT: Realized I was violating some licenses on those plugins and even REAPER itself, so I took the link down. I will try to put another one up that is legit.

***NOTE***
If you can't open the .rar, download either 7zip, or Winrar

I will try to be updating this as soon as possible when new versions of REAPER are released!

Cheers!
Michael

Changelog:
  • 8/26/13
    # Added SWS extension and updated Apollo Theme.

I didn't?!

Haha I had it installed, so I guess I'll just have to find the installer and update the README?

I think I'll wait to update it when 4.5 comes out (it takes forever to upload it )

EDIT: I'm fixing it now, AND HAVE RELEASED AN UPDATED VERSION WITH SWS EXTENSIONS AND THE NEW APOLLO THEME (THEME WILL NOT HAVE TO BE UPDATED FOR 4.5)

Any suggestions for the toolbar? I'm trying to tidy it up a bit and maybe include more useful actions...

So any suggestions?

Very interesting, but for me there is a very difficult structure of the menu, especially in the Track kind choosing menu. It's easy to be lost. Add to your config file Automatically resize config windows down in Preferences->Plugins. The pack of plugins is awesome.

You have Oatmeal twice - in x64 and x86 folders. AFAIK there's no 64-bit version of Oatmeal.

I would actually take this down immediately if I were you.

you are basically re-distributing these Plug-ins Please take a look at those licenses. I wouldn't want you to get into trouble.

I know for sure that you can't re-distribute shortcircuit like this - unless you have permission. Check the rest.

It sucks, I know, but please just consider using links instead.

OR GET PERMISSION!!!!!!

*It might be worthwhile to compile a list of freely redistributable plug-ins, and use those. (if there are any)

Voxengo are definitely re-distributable, and you should find plenty more.

The advice is good. Get permission rather than piss off the makers of free plugins or just provide links.

^^This.

Sorry too but it's not like other people never had the same idea, but each time it lacked the redistribution permission for all of the content in such bundles and therefore had to be taken down. Alas this is complicated legal terrain.

Actually, it also takes a written permission to redistribute REAPER itself (and the redistribution agreement only allows for redistribution of REAPER in its unaltered form, among other conditions):

http://www.cockos.com/reaper/dist-agreement.php

http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=20

What you could do (probably) without problems is e.g. creating scripts that automatically download, install and configure stuff the way you think it should be.

Darn Well it was worth a shot. Ollie, not sure how I would write something like that. And I wasn't aware that you couldn't share free plugins...

I'll take a look at those licenses and see what I can do. And it would probably be best to just link to REAPER instead of having every single installer?

Again, sorry about violating the licenses... It was an honest mistake

And thanks for making me aware of the issue in a very kind and polite way. This is the best forum on the internet, by far!
