Default Reaper Help File Updated! - Available for Download (Reaper_help.chm)

I've created another version of the Reaper Help file based on Reaper's Wiki Manual!

Changes from previous help file version
=============================================
- Improved Table of Contents (manually entered and organized)
- Improved look of help contents vs previous help version
- File size reduced from previous chm version.
- Search improved (no more doubles listed)
- Removed left sidebar from pages for improved usability
- In the help file blue tabs at the top to access the live wiki
- Edits can be made right within the help file by clicking on "Edit" links!
- Edits made will be active on web site and incorporated into the help file the next its created.

Steps to use:
=============================================
1. Download chm help (8 MB) file http://www.sandboxdesigns.com/reaper/REAPER_HELP.chm

2. Save the Help file in the Reaper folder "C:\Program Files\Reaper\"
delete the older chm version (if exists)

3. Enable the Help file (imporant step)
- In Explorer go to the folder "C:\Program Files\Reaper"
- Right-click the file REAPER_HELP.chm
- select "Properties"
- then click the button "UNBLOCK"

4. Use Help from Reaper
Run reaper, then click on the help menu "Help --> Documentation --> REAPER_HELP"

Final Notes:
=============================================
- If you see something wrong in the wiki, please click edit and update it!
- It's simple to edit the wiki once you get the hang of it.
- You can try out the wiki without messing anything up here: http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Sandbox

- If you see something that could be improved (like moving an item of the TOC, please PM me!

after we redo the wiki, and he converts that, i wonder if theres a way to integrate it within reaper...

(if you have the prefs window/defaults open and press f1, it brings up the help item on prefs/defaults... etc)

it would really help when people have questions about all the options methinks.

Hey Tod,

No "Unblock" button here. Is that a Vista thing or something?
Thx.

Yeah we should be able setup context-sensitive help...
I would need to coordinate with Justin to get it working.

Ah that explains it! My DAW never goes near the net, doesn't get updates and is completely stand alone.

Looks like I don't need to unblock then - it opens OK in Reaper and appears to behave itself.

Thanks Tod.

Ah yes, context-sensitive help would be a HUGE benefit for many Reaper users.

Make sure you check out the SEARCH functionality within the help file.

It's a quick way to locate specific topic.
