Hello Hopi!
There's something wrong with the GOLDYLOOKS. I'm not able to open it the right way. One of them seems to be somehow corrupted.

Great 2014 to you

Now that there's GOLDYLOOKS parts 1,2 and 3 to download it works just fine.
Thank you!

EDITED:

all links for the two GOLDYLOOKS skins have been removed from the stash
apparently they were offensive to tonehelm and I don't want to get into a war here... sorry.

Now then:

I have a new skin, "MIDNITE"...

and it is a named series of 20+ skins with either blank like the one shown here or with names on them like COMPRESSOR, REVERB, etc.

The un-named version is there now:

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/19472/MIDNITE-BLANK.part1.rar

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/19473/MIDNITE-BLANK.part2.rar

Here is a new DL link for the whole revised set MIDNITE which contains 33 named GUI skins

Hi Richie... I just realized I made a miztrake [who me?] so now the files are half a big as they were... so new links on the stash for the blank skin now...

I'll see about doing a dropbox for the rest of the set next.

Happy to see you're not sick of this nonsense yet.

EDIT: Dropbox link added to the post above... do lemme know if it works for you plz.

I love to have new skins that are nice to look at and enhance the functionality of Nebula..... But I could definitely deal with less nonsense. Original artwork made into Nebula skins is awesome, as well as new ReaThemes. For the record, tonehelm wasn't offended by the other skin, in fact he thought the skin was very nice. So nice that he was concerned that it looked very much like a plugin that he developed and worked very hard on the GUI for. There is enough room in the art world (like in music) for everyone to express themselves creatively without borrowing, I think. You do good work, hopi, you can do all original skins, you don't need any borrowed imagery (even if you created them yourself). You go man!

thanks for the encouragement Richie...

well heck... you know I make these skins mainly for me and am happy to share them with others...
You more than most have been with me on this 'adventure'... and I use that term loosely... I started with major problems and then got the drift and then got going and with some help from a few nice people, learned how to work with the xml oode, even in ways that not explained in the skin guide...

discovering that, let's me do things that are 'cute'...

I am an old hand at knobman and in Photoshop but very new to xml, so it has been, ummmm 'fun'...

I am pleased to hear you enjoy the skins that enhance Neb3... I think some of mine do that...
Having explored both very big and very small, I now am just messing around with other ideas...
This MIDNITE series seems to really work very nicely IMHO.

As to 'artwork'... well I've been doing artwork in many fields longer than most people on here have been alive... hahaha
One of the things I've learned in all that is that almost nothing is 'original'... it all has roots and lineages in other creations.... well that's what I've seen anyhow.

I'm glad to hear at least that Tonehelm 'like' the skins.. I do agree with you that a better solution would have been what you suggested to me... but it's no biggy. Maybe after his plugs have had a year to sell, I can post GOLDYLOOKS again to share...

As you can plainly see, I've now taken that kind of meter and done it 'my way' in MIDNITE... and I don't mind saying it was a real trick to pull off... way more complex than the GOLDY's meters but you could not understand that without seeing the 82 png files that make it up.

anyway... I only hope some of this work helps people enjoy Neb3 cuz it IS a VERY GREAT plugin, and there are some very great people involved with it and it's presets... IMO of course.

it helped, your work, Hopi.
and it is well appreciated, here.
Happy, I am, to have that goldylooks-skin. - but even the new one called midnight is great.
Espacialy, the overloading looks good and I prefer it for the size.
Allthough, I am indecisive in this case. The are ...
... nice, both. I have to underline that again. Even the older skins, like "s3Xy" or "HMB" (hopi-mini-black),
I like them. They support the use of Nebula.
Positive.

Also, thanks to the Reaper-Team! Again another update (4.59 this time).
Vibes.

thanks for the kind words...

at the request of another user I have just re-made this guide about how to use various skins.

It is a pdf here:

a little something different... to fill a request from the Nebula forums for a skin with only the preset name in the Init and sliders.
Can only be used with versions 1.3.610 or above.
.. I named it piGMe... guess why?

here is the download link:

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/19506/piGMe.N2S

Yo Hopi,

without disrespect (more the contrary),
mine (downloaded today) looks different.

grabie... that is really strange, but I suspect the problem is caused by you not having a recent enough version of Nebula.

The code that makes this skin ONLY works with versions higher than 1.3.610.

Here is the quote from giancarlo about it:

Quote:
About the skinning language new keywords: they work only starting from nebula 1.3.610. Keep in mind there is 1.3.608 on our website, this evening we'll put online version 1.3.621.
I say this because in your image it shows the whole Init preset info... and that is what an older version of Nebula would show.

But do you really see it in black and white ????

Yo Hopi,
my mistake ...

- The black/white thing was just for downsizing the picture, sorry for the confusion.

- I use Nebula3 Pro Win x64 1.3.602, I thought it was up to date.
It still is the one, offered for the download, now.
I gues Giancarlo means Nebula3 Pro Mac OSX x86 1.3.608, which is not for me, as I am on Windows.
So I wonder:
Can I get Version 1.3.610? Where?
When will Version 1.3.621 or another update for windows come?

I like your engagement, Hopi. Thank you.

So is there some hidden secret way to get to the MAST page with this minimalist skin, hopi?

richie... no but that is the point really...since the request was for not being able to do that...

I don't have the link in front of me atm, but on the neb forum, a person was asking if this could be done and giancarlo said, 'yes but only in the new versions... '

so I became a beta tester and he sent me a version that will allow this syntax in the skin xml file and it truncates the Init window to only show what you see...

However... where you would normally see program mast, etc. that lower line does seem to be active even though it's not shown..
I find if I clk where that would be just below the last line of the preset, I get some page changes but really they are not very useful...

So in short [after all the long] it's just a little experiment for him, for me and for giancarlo.

See next post plz:

Two more variation on that same truncated Init window skin.. I wanted to see what could be done with some other meters, knobs instead of sliders, etc. Gotta say, they get pretty small this way.

Remember:

These will ONLY work with versions 1.3.610 or above

TuRDeL pONd skin [tweak the TuRDeL's tails!]

https://stash.reaper.fm/v/19513/TuRDe...ula%20Skin.zip

and [if you order in the next hour you get another one for only shipping and handling!]

I like how these meters work, ...think I'll do a more standard skin that works this same way.

Default RAINBOW skin

at it again... this time with something very different..

NOT a 'hardware' skin... rather another in my 'artistic' series

This started as an experiment with making different meters and then ran away with itself...

NOTE:

HOPI RAINBOW Nebula Skin
The Sun and Moon are the In and Out Gains
The Birds are the Knobs

I highly suggest to tweak any of them, you click in the center of the image and then use the mouse wheel to adjust them.

hopefully you can download it here from the dropbox:

NOTE:

I learn something each time, ...this time it goes like so:

The Over's for this work in an interesting way, perhaps it is true for all skins and we just can't see it cuz of how they are made.

To see what I'm talking about, try this:

Put this Neb Skin on one track.
Put a stereo wav file on another track below it, and send to the Neb vst.
Turn off the Master Parent on the wav track, leave it on for the Neb vst track.
Make the send to be Post Fader Post Pan

That will let you alter the pan going into Neb vst as well as the gain going in.

Watch what happens with Over's when you push most of the audio to the left for right sides...

is there a way to simply view skin files? i have some with obscure names, so i can't see them unless i open and close Neb (or memorize them). what prog is used to make them, and can i use that (or any other) prog to simply view an N2S file?

have a look at this:
https://stash.reaper.fm/v/19478/HOPI%...N%20NEBULA.pdf

doing what it suggests is about the best you could do... there is nothing that will just open or let you look at an .n2s file other wise.

How to make skins is a whole other story... if you really want to learn that, it is possible and you can ask.

Hopi I was about to turn Amish, renounce electricity, and get used to the idea of growing popcorn and shoveling horse$hit out in the dusty fields in the middle of nowhere, but thanks to you I'll give small-town city life another try

Looks great! I can't install 'till morning so I'll check back.

don't forget IF you do turn Amish, you'll have to eat a lot of Quaker Oats first.

The Quaker Oats guy's hat is totally Southern Rock I think:

He's got that "keyboardist" look, but maybe I'm reading too much into it

OK the circle comes round again:

Decided to re make the MINI BLACK this time with stereo meters since I find them way better than just the single meter, especially if you are feeding Neb3 from another track.

Screen shot is here:

this example is the one with no name... but there are now

a quick thanks for this.
my prev question is obsolete since i pretty much use these exclusively now. nice to have a control that doesn't jump wildly as soon as you touch it.
as soon as i downloaded the first batch, i opened nebsetups and made a separate version for every program category i have. fantastic.

thanks for the thanks... and yes on both points, I totally agree...

I'd say this for what I've seen so far:

The use of knobs in the skins is more touchy than using sliders... but Sliders by definition have to take up more room on the screen.

Of the skins I've done I think I'd say MIDNITE series has the best responding knobs...

I'm leaning more and more to all sliders but it's tricky to find a balance between a GUI's screen size and the length of a slider that isn't just too damn long or that jumps around when you touch it.

I am happy that some people find the named panel concept useful.

I may yet do this one again with more detailed meters but ... good enuff for today.

oh and if you have not yet... DO get the update to .655 but keep a back up of your current dll's incase it still is having problems installing.

Ahem...... The most recent update unless you are a beta tester is still 1.3.636.

It's a good update, but if you have a stable system right now, I'd wait for the newest 1.3.655, it's remarkably better.
