Album I played on and engineered!
Portuguese artist BRUNO PATO just released his first EP.
He hired me to record drums and also all the engineering. Check it out!

hola, gimme dat fado ... :-))))
as someone who did some years ago an album with a female portugese singer/songwriter I came across (naturally) some male portugese singers. oh my ... cant help it, but everytime - if they sing in portugese - I have to laugh, because they all sound like drunken and not able to pronounce adequalty. I know, its the language ... but ... bruhahaha ... :-)))
anyway. beside that funny factor, I like it, what all of you involved into taht did there. its beautiful, a little bit raw, but well tempered raw imo. dont hit me, but reminds me a little bit of Adriano Celentano. (not meant as a bad thing.)
and I prefer female voices ... especially when its portugese. :-))

So versatile, Hugo! Never would have thought you'd play folk. But if it pays, that's all that matters.

I know what you mean. I feel the same way about some languages.

M5 beat me to it. my first thought was that you're a versatile dude, Hugo. Surprised me as well, but you pulled it off. I can hear why he hired you.

Thanks Sammy!!!
I know I'm a rock/metal guy but I like to go out of my comfort zone. And, I want to explore other styles as well. Being close minded is very dangerous for a musician.
cheers

kudos Hugo! wow, you are a versatile guy! this is really some beautiful stuff! i love this guy's voice. did you mix this too - or just engineer the recording? it's gorgeous. some of the best stuff i've heard in a while. love his chord choices and melodies. top notch. how's his EP doing? i have got to believe if it got in the right hands it'd get some serious airplay - or perhaps land on a soundtrack for some film. i could easily see this in an indie film.
you're a busy guy these days!! congrats! i hope i can talk you into maybe doing a collab with me sometime in 2015. i think it'd be fun.

Nice job, Hugo. Your feel, light touch and subtlety on the kit is very tasteful.
I like these mixes overall. The vocals are treated well and up front. They were obviously your main focus in these productions and it shows.
I only really have one subjective thought that keeps reoccurring for me as I listen to these songs. The prominent low end character of the voice opened up the potential to subtly brighten the acoustics throughout, which would have opened up the high mids and top end, but still left the vocals up front because of the rich body there. I get the dark angle though, I think it does work for the production.
No nits really when it comes down to it. Nice job.

Thanks Mark!
He is a very talented songwriter and also a multi instrumentalist. He played everything except drums and cello. I agree, he also has a great voice. Very warm.
The EP was just released so, it has to be baby steps.
It was mixed and mastered by a talented friend of mine.
Whenever you want Mark! It would be a pleasure. Email me!
cheers

Thank you so much Fishy!
Well, this was all done to the artist's wishes so it had to be to his liking 100%.
cheers
