Default Better Mixer FX Param Controls (more types, options)

This is a request for Mixer Parameter Knob customization options.

Parameter knobs make the mixer much more useful but lack of customization options here severely cripple their usefulness.

I didn't use the mixer much at all until I added Fx param knobs for console-esque EQ, like this:

As you can see I had to improvise a bit to differentiate the param types, but it's still pretty confusing to the eye.

So my suggestion is this:
KNOB/CONTROL STYLE VARIETY (Allow for several customizable types)
Problem: With many parameters as knobs on a track, it becomes difficult to tweak them quickly, since all knobs look the same. You must read each one over and over to verify which to use.
Solution: Allow multiple, assignable, custom knobs colors and styles optional labels, instead of a column generic knobs, taking up too much screen space. Without labels we could fit 3 knobs on a slot.

There should be several additional fx parameter behavior "types."
1. Range (increases from none to full as you turn the knob clockwise)
2. Inverted Range (same, but inverted, so it increases as you turn counter-clockwise)
3. Centered Range (like a pan pot but the range changes size)
4. Dial (just like a pan pot or any typical knob out there)
5. Horizontal slider/fader (I didn't include an image so you have to use your imagination (centered in the middle and can be dragged left or right)
6. Toggle button (also not pictured, but parameters with only on or off are obviously better suited to buttons than knobs)

Example:

Notice how much more informative the knobs are when they can be colored and when their behavior is suited to the parameter. In the compact example, I wouldn't even need labels, but mouse-over floating labels for the param name and value would definitely be a good thing.

MOMENTARY VIEW OF PLUGIN UI (Show UI when tweaking params)
Problem: Being able to "pin" fx gui on top is a cumbersome solution to keeping plugin interfaces visible when needed. Pinned windows often obscure important dialogs, must be pinned/opened/closed individually, etc.
Solution: An option to momentarily put relevant UI on top while tweaking the respective fx param knobs in the mixer. So you click on a parameter in the mixer and the UI appears on top until you release the button and you only see the UI when you need it. This could be an alternative "pinning" mode activated on a per-plugin basis.

SMART FX PARAMETERS
Problem: Double clicking an fx param knob brings up the UI (this would become obsolete with the above feature).
Solution: Double clicking should reset the value, or do whatever it typically does in the native UI.

ALLOW RE-ORDERING THE KNOBS
Organizing the Fx Param knobs is a pain. You have to add them in the correct order and can't change the order without starting over. Please also allow the order to be changed at any time. Drag and drop would be convenient, but problematic since we are dragging the knobs to change their value...perhaps with a modifier?

Good idea here fox. An option to color code parameters would be nice too!

Agree, although I still do feel that knobs are not as good as sliders for that case, and take up much more vertical space.

The analogy with most real mixers kinda ends after eq and aux sends. Everything else in daws has no relationship to what you'd see on an analog mixer strip, lots more potential stuff can be there, so there has to be room for it in the design or it gets cluttered.

For which case? I've got faders (horizongal) up there. That what you mean by "sliders?"

So, 2 1/2 years later, I finally produced a mockup image...and it's a pretty half-assed one at that Hopefully Cockos thinks it's an awesome idea and it's not another 2 1/2 years before we see such a feature impemented... Procrastination's a bitch!

+1 on most of this, especially:

SMART FX PARAMETERS
Double clicking should reset the value, or do whatever it typically does in the native UI.

and

ALLOW RE-ORDERING THE KNOBS

And of course, colours and toggle buttons
