Oh shit, what a bad timing (for me).

I'm just about to finish up a full length CD for an artist, 1½-2 months work. So now I'm not sure if it's safe enough to go from 4.78 over to v5 without messing the work process up. Meaning, I won't get to try v5 for a couple of months! :/ I thought it was gonna come later this fall.

But, overall, very exciting!

Do a portable install, open your project there and save it with a new name. If something goes wrong you can go back to your main install and current project.

Is there an update price, or you have to get a new licence? I haven't seen anything on the purchase page. I guess there is nothing like that, since one licence covers two versions already, right?

"discounted-to-commercial" discounts are for upgrading a discounted (personal or small business) license to a full commercial license.

Just bought my v5 license Last time was 5 years ago (v3.15) so about 12$/year for continuous upgrades. Anyway you look at it, it's a great deal. Thanks devs

No no no! REAPER 4 licenses are valid all the way through REAPER 5.99, as always.

You only need a new license if your current license was for REAPER 3, in other words, purchased before August 2011. (Assuming you want to use REAPER 5... you can continue to use any REAPER 3 or 4 version forever, with a REAPER 3 license.)

A new license required for me on v5 but well worth it IMO - congrats to the devs and all the others that contributed to the latest release!

A big thank you to the devs and everybody who was involved in the development of REAPER 5.

My license is valid for v5, but I swear to renew it when v6 arrives.

Oh speaking of v6, when will it drop? I SAID WHEN?? #$*'#"%##

Humans attach significance to all kinds of silly things -

So I decided to save my 3000th post (all gold ) for v5 release congratulation and thanks, despite having to give you my money for it and not liking the tcp layouts so much

Look forward to refinement and polish to come.

Lets make nice noises.

The date is incorrect on that. I just checked my license and I purchased in November 2011 and it says it was for v3-4.99. I think maybe v4 was released in December of 2011? I don't really remember. I don't think I ever used v3 back then, just the v4 pre-releases.

THANK YOU!!!!

Reaper has been a tremendous part of my work, both as a freelancer and at a local studio. I never have to touch the Pro Tools rig, and nobody seems to care that it's not Pro Tools. And when they see how intuitive it is, many people go home and download it. Keep up the good work!

4.0 was definitely August 2011. If you have a question about your specific license status, feel free to email support at cockos and we can figure it out.

OK, so hmm...I lost a much better oppurtunity to use my 5000th post for v5 release, would have been much more appropriate!

Anyway, congratulations to Cockos for finally getting v5 out!

This is nice.
I just checked the old Reaper registration email I was sent when I purchased Reaper back in 2011 and it states it is good until version 5.99.

What a deal this is compared to other software.
Nice work folks. Looking forward to the install this evening.

Congrats on the roll out!

I typed too soon, my apologies! The email I was looking at must have been Cockos re-sending a copy of my license. I definitely purchased in MAY of 2011. That was so long ago! I can't think of another company that has a better licensing policy.

Congrats on the release of v5! I can't what incredible things are in store for this round of development.

Congrats! I must admit, my very first thought reading this thread was....

"Was it really necessary to post the entire feature list in a long , long, long post, in a thread who's first post links to it?"

I see that happen a lot on KVR. Just gimme the highlights, the rest I can go read for myself.

I didn't realize that. I just purchased 5, and I still have the 4 license. However 120.00 for a good DAW.
