Project time signature reverts to 4/4 with beat pattern change? (FIXED)

Someone kindly let me know if i'm doing something wrong or if this is a bug... This is 4.17 5.17 [knew that looked wrong] on Win 8.1 64. You can see that I've inserted a time signature marker in the tempo track that makes a new tempo and time signature of 6/8. As soon as i try to change the beat pattern in the metronome to something else, it instantly reverts the marker (and the project, as a result) to 4/4:

Also, I noticed this, once: I brought up the metronome dialog and where it says "Skip: . (period)" it just said "Skip:". Then I entered a period in the pattern and the trailing ". (period)" appeared. Don't know if it's wrapping off or something, and i can't reproduce it right now (all subsequent times it appears as normal), but I'll report back if i can figure out a way.
