Same FXID in plugins when duplicating tracks (FIXED)
Fixed in 5.24
Quote:
----------- I think this is a bug. (5.18) When you duplicate a track with the "Duplicate tracks" action, the FXIDs of the plugins, if they have, remain the same. You can see it in the RPP file, or via API. When you copy an FX manually from one track to another track, dragging it for example, the plugin gets a new FXID. This is the way it should be when duplicating tracks too. Last edited by heda; 08-26-2016 at 03:43 PM. Reason: fixed in 5.24 |

Total newb here, but fwiw using Guitar Rig 5 (free) to test FX I see the same results in v5.17-x64 RPP file.
The dup'd tracks have same FXID, but dragged FX to new tracks each have different FXID. Does having same FXID cause problems/bug? |

Thanks, yes it causes problems when scripting for example. Each plugin should have a unique FXID. For a regular user that does not use FXID, it may not be a problem.

Bump. Please devs have a look at it. I think it is a big bug.
I think fx should only have the same FXID if they would be like instances, like pooled FX plugins. But we don't have pooled fx so, duplicating tracks should give new FXIDs to the plugins on the duplicated track. Or maybe leave FXID, but create a new FXID type that is unique per plugin instance. Thanks |

Yes Jason. Then there should be another way to tell REAPER I want these plugins to be "pooled".. not by duplicating a track.
The idea of pooled plugins is cool, and I'm sure devs can do it. Althoughm if they haven't done them yet, maybe there is a reason for it. Maybe they can add a new ID like POOLID or something for that purpose. In the meantime. I expect FXID to be unique per each plugin in all cases. |

This is the same for item GUIDs and take GUIDs and also when copy/pasting tracks.
