Can't type parentheses in actions list filter (FIXED)

The manual describes how to use parentheses to do boolean searches but I can't seem to type a parentheses in the actions list filter. Whenever I do try to type one, the cursor leaves the filter text box focus instead of entering a parentheses.

Basically, even though shift+9 is not assigned to any action, when I type shift+9 to type a parentheses in the actions list filter box, the cursor changes to focus on a selection in the actions list instead of entering a parentheses.

I can, however, seem to copy a boolean search query from the clipboard after entering it in a text editor and paste it into the search box.

Okay after assigning and deleting ( and ) as a shortcut for a couple actions, now I seem able to type ) in the filter box, but not ( for some reason. It just moves the focus to the actions list.

Running Reaper 5.18/64 on Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite. 100% repro.
