Preview of recording items update frequency problem (FIXED)

When putting a very high value in the update frequency for the preview of recording items (preferences -> audio -> recording), opening the preferences panel leads to reaper crashing.
I tested with and update frequency of 1256 Hz, the recording worked (the preview was very smooth indeed), but when opening the preferences reaper crashes ("REAPER has stopped working"). This was the case in a new project as well, and the only way to get it working for me was to reset reaper's preferences in the start menu.
Also tested on a mac, same result.
