Default Pasted note extend until the item's end if it overlaps the end of an existing note

  1. Create a quarter note and copy it
  2. Create a half note on the same pitch
  3. Move the cursor to the middle of the second note and paste
--> The pasted note goes on until the item's end instead of being a quarter

As seen in this gif:

I also have had this problem when working with MIDI - it also seems to happen to certain notes when importing MIDI files, too. It's making things very annoying to work with.

Oddly, the MIDI item preview on the arrange/playlist view sometimes doesn't seem to display the stretched notes, instead appearing as it should have been when I imported it.

cfillion, I figured it would be easy enough to try. It seems, using pre2 for 5.29, that the notes end has to land right on top of the other ones to get that behavior.

@FnA: Yes, exactly. It seems to happen if:
  1. the end of a pasted note is the same as the end of an existing one
  2. the length or velocity (gif) differ between the notes in clipboard and existing notes
---

Also got this when attempting to paste notes with different velocities (expecting to get all the brown notes to become green, unlike in this simplified gif where only the first one is):

Over the past year, this bug has transmogrified: when pasting onto another note, the pasted note simply disappears!

(v5.65rc3)

Several other copy/paste bugs were reported in the thread MIDI editor: Pasting or duplicating note deletes non-overlapping adjacent note.

Isn't Autocorrect overlapping notes while editing supposed to make editing *safer*?
