No undo point with mousewheel on volume faders (sometimes) (FIXED)

Sometimes, and unpredictably, no undo point is created when using the mousewheel on volume faders. I have also seen this happen on send volume sliders, and maybe it happens elsewhere as well.

This bug has been around for a couple of versions at least, and "improve undo behavior for various editing actions" in 5.40 hasn't fixed it

I just encountered this. Mousewheel adjustment of controls in the TCP does not reliably create undo points.

If you have "Store multiple redo paths when possible" on, using the mousewheel to adjust controls doesn't create a new path unless you use the mousewheel then left-click the control.

Sometimes it will overwrite the next action in the undo stack, sometimes it will leap ahead to the top of the stack and create a new point. Either way... if you undo/redo, then your project can get rather messed up.

This has messed up a few of my projects already

It works in the MCP for me. I tried a bunch before writing my above post.

I don't understand why, it seems very strange. I assume that maybe I am doing something different, but I was unable to determine what if that is the case.

Hopefully a bump here won't look too impatient, but it's been getting on for two years now (tempus fugit). Would be nice to have this fixed by REAPER 5.99, and it would surely be child's play for the devs

Here's another case I've just found where using the mousewheel reacts either very slowly or not at all: all the sliders in the Reverb Generator module in ReaVerb.

So the list so far is

1) track volume faders
2) send volume faders
3) ReaVerb

and that's just the ones I've found. There must be others lurking undiscovered.

Please fix these Devs. Pretty please!

I love Reaper and I've learned loads from the forum, and it is probably the best $60 I've ever spent. But with the greatest respect, it does get frustrating to see some users report a bug one day and get it fixed the next, while it seems that others have to wait forever. Surely one person's $60 (or $225) is as good as another's?
