Default How to let reaper keep running in background

Does anyone know how to let Reaper keep running in the background while I'm using other application? Let's say I'm running reaper, but when I switched to google chrome or other application, reaper stops playing music, I need reaper to run even if my monitor is in screen protecting mode, I've run through manuals and searching the forum, a little help, please?

Not exactly sure about this as my install keeps on playing regardless of settings, but maybe the Preferences/Audio/Close Audio Device when stopped and inactive would help you?

It is possibly dependent on the type of driver you're using....do you have an ASIO interface??

Have you tried checking these preferences?

I have it set to not close, because my driver is independent of other applications. If you use ASIO, you might have some issues where other applications won't be able to play sound while Reaper is using the driver.

maybe you are using an audio interface which is not capable of processing multiple sources simultaneously?
