Notation Voicing + MusicXML Import (FIXED)
Hey Reaper community.
When importing a MusicXML file into Reaper from a score editor (Musescore for example) , it seems that the use of multi-voicing is omitted. That is, if a measure of two voices with one stem up and one stem down is exported from Musescore as MusicXML and imported into Reaper, the resulting notation in Reaper is of one voice with one direction on the notation. Is this an issue that will be worked out in the future, or is there a work around rather than having to manually change the voicing after import? G'day. ~JG |

Would it be possible for you to post a super minimal musicxml file with just like 2 notes in different voices?

Anyway, so when I did a test like you suggest, I do get stems in different directions but they are backwards and look funky. Easy to fix, but at least they are indeed in different directions. Hope you get this resolved soon!

If I import a simple, 2-voice .xml file from MuseScore into Reaper, the 2 voices are beamed independently of each other but the upper line (Voice 1 in MuseScore) is set to "Default Voice" and the lower line (Voice 2 in MuseScore) is set to "High Voice". I would expect Voice 2 to be assigned to "Low Voice" instead.
Also, the beaming in both voices is set to the same direction (both voices are set to "Default Beaming" which in this case, seems to mean "up"). Voice 1 should obviously be up and Voice 2 should be down, as they are in the original MuseScore file. I've attached a simple RPP to illustrate. Last edited by Xasman; 01-14-2024 at 07:05 AM. |

Thanks. I think we can improve this for the next build ... actually, since we are already in RC for the next release number, the fix might wait until the start of the next prerelease cycle.

Thanks for clearing that up.
So it's not that Reaper didn't import the voice difference at all, but that the voices were both configured with upward stems. |

Technically, the bug was that REAPER ignores the stem up/down directive in the musicxml file if the voice is also specified.
