BUG: YUV decode
I exported a video to YUV lossless. Upon importing that video into REAPER, red and blue channels are swapped. VLC won't play the file, but Windows Media Player does and plays it correctly, so it seems that REAPER's decode is at fault.
(Or rename it to "Alternate reality filter" ) (BTW, since it's 2019, would you consider relaxing the 800x600, <64kb attachment restriction? ;P )

I think its VideoLan's fault as their VLC is used in Reaper as decoder. You could install ffmpeg and use it as alternative decoder to check if its really VLC dependent.
I also had found a bug in VLC as I wasn't able to create video loops because the last frames always got stuck. That was reason enough to write several bug reports at the Blender bugtracker until I had realized its VLCs fault. Then I "spammed" VideoLan's bugtracker. Hope they fix this in the next release. So its always good to have an alternative decoder like ffmpeg to find the root of the problem. Here you can download ffmepeg: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ Not sure which system you have. But you have to download the "shared" package. Put those dlls into Reapers user plugins directory and change the decoder priority in the user preferences. Good luck! |

Can you show us the source properties (Ctrl+F2) for this file?
What R version? Might need to post a minimal version of the file if you want it fixed... |

(BTW, DV codec doesn't even encode; "Error initializing video encoder, check parameters")

As expected. This is VLC's fault as ffmpeg decodes the video easily.

Cool, so I'll just swap ffmpeg and vlc, then? Is ffmpeg always preferred?

Ahh, ffmpeg is really slow to decode any file type on my system.

This depends kind of the system because some users prefer ffmpeg others VLC. I use ffmpeg only because of the mentioned last frame bug from VLC.

How could this be? The video didn't even run in VLC.
