Feature Request: display project titles in the File > Recent Projects menu
Presently, Reaper displays the list of project paths under File > Recent Projects menu.
It might be more user-friendly to display either project titles instead of, or in addition to, project paths.
In addition to being a more user-friendly behavior, this format will reduce the amount of speech that screen reader users have to listen to (consider that the important part of the project's path appears at the very end of the string).

I also think this should be implemented.

I wonder if there is a better way to bump this up / increase the visibility of this request.
I don't even know if the developers have seen this.
O wait, it looks like this particular forum has been deprecated.
I will repost into a better one!

Don't try to force it. Occasionally bump it and hope for the best.

Hmm an option for this might be good, having the paths is also useful. Or perhaps an option to show "filename.RPP (/in/path)" ?

The cleanest one-stop compromise I can think of is to display the project name first (also .rpp is a bit redundant here), then display the full path in grey and add an option for non-sighted folks and those that don't care about the paths to remove that text, for the screen reader reason mainly.
Also, would be neat to see this list sorted like one of the windows explorer views, like so (headings would be in grey):
Recent Projects >
Today:
Rocking on guitar.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
Yesterday:
Setting up guitar tones.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
Test recording.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
Earlier this week:
Drum loops for jamming.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
Guitar test.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
Earlier this month:
Trying Reaper.rpp C:/Users/Fergler/Desktop/Audio Projects/
I've been seeing that Reaper seems to be quite popular for blind music production. I wonder if an installation tickbox that sets a bunch of blind-friendly settings could be a good project.

I am all for new option. It may help lot the users.
But I would like to see it as additional option to what we already have, because it shows path and filename (including .RPP ext) explicitly (for IT geeks
"c:\blahblah\projects\newsong\coolsong_2.rpp" is absolute format that is the only correct one (even if not user friendly maybe), all other options are only a view simplification (which may good for sure).

Agree. Wish the path could be grey because now it still feels visually cluttered.
Actually as implemented now, when displaying the tiltle before the path it gets even more cluttered than when showing the path at the beginning because when saving different versions of projects to same path, if the path is shown at the beginning, it always aligns and you can easily see where the title begins and you see version numbers (like _1 or _A) at the very end (if that’s how you name your projects.
If on the other hand you display titles at the beginning the file paths do not align and the end of the project name is somewhere in thr middle of the long line of text.
Making paths grey (or ideally have also an option to hide them) would help the eye to focus on the title.

I totally 100% absolutely support this, that has been pet peeve of mine since I switched to Reaper. Would be so awesome to set in the preferences if you want to display the project name only, the full path, or the path in grey and the project name in "regular" color. Pleeeeeeaaaaaase !!!

Yes please!
I would love this as well. It's very difficult to see my project names especially since I have a lot of subfolders so the file path can be very long! Please consider adding this option.

The option to chose how to display the recent project list is already implemented.
REAPER Preferences > General > "Recent project list display" button.
Options to chose from:
- Display file name
- Display full path
- Display file name and full path
