Copying regions (DONE)
Hello,
I’m hoping to find a way to copy regions in reaper. I have successfully been using Color coded regions to label the song sections, but I can’t figure out how to copy and paste them to quickly duplicate song sections. Everything I’ve found so far copies the items as well, and I don’t want to do this because I’m trying to label a song that has al the audio recorded already.

From page 155 of the REAPER User Guide:
To move a region without moving its contents -> Alt left drag with mouse.
EDIT: Oops, sorry, I see you wanted to copy and not just move the regions without their content. I think in that case it looks like it's not currently possible (at least not without a script). I agree it should be though - it would be good to have the option of just being able to use something like Ctrl+Alt+LMD to copy regions without moving contents.

Just alt (option) dragging the region or do I misunderstand something here??

Yeah, he wants to copy multiple regions without their contents - Alt+LMD moves them without their contents but doesn't copy them.

There's a somewhat convoluted workaround here which may help a bit.

You'll find mouse-preferences for the mouse-drag
of regions:
-- move region only
-- move region with moving items
-- copy region only
-- copy region with copying items
Go to the --> "preferences" + choose what you need.

I always find it easier to work with items and then there are several scripts to convert items to regions

No, look again - the only options there are:
No Action
Move contents of project region
Move contents of project region ignoring snap
Copy contents of project region
Copy contents of project region ignoring snap
Move project region but not contents
Move project region but not contents ignoring snap
There's definitely no "--copy region only" option.
What's really needed there are these two logical additional options:
Copy project region but not contents
Copy project region but not contents ignoring snap

Yes, I'm surprised those two options are missing as well because it seems so logical that they should exist.

You can Ctrl+drag a region to copy it (with items) beyond the end of song, then (custom action) select all items in the region (or time selection, dbl-click on region header), and delete the duplicates. You can now Alt+drag the region where you want.

Only the bug can be fixed. If there is no something to fix, then it is not a bug.
