[6.17] Writing metadata to Ogg files changes the file
Writing metadata to Ogg files changes the file so that it no longer plays correctly, both in Reaper and other players such as VLC.
It looks like the first "chunk" or whatever of the ogg file gets corrupted, and so the beginning of audio files gets chopped off.

Sorry schwa, busy week so haven't had time to test it until now.
The issue actually isn't resolved for me in 6.18. There seems to be a difference whether an ogg file was created with Reaper or with ffmpeg.
If I take a WAV file and convert it Ogg using Reapers Batch file/item converter, writing metadata to the Ogg file works fine.
If I however take the same WAV file and convert it to Ogg using ffmpeg, writing metadata to the Ogg file using Reaper causes it to go corrupt. I can add or edit the metadata in other software (this cause using mutagen for Python) without it going corrupt.

Can you share a particular file that gets messed up when rewriting metadata using REAPER? I'm unable to reproduce the problem locally, even using ffmpeg.

Thanks, we think we have this fixed now in 6.18+dev1207, if you want to try it out.
Did you use any non-default ffmpeg settings when you created the original ogg file?

No just ffmpeg -i inputfile outputfile.
I can confirm that it works in latest dev.
