Solo button doesn't reflect MIDI CC soling

Forgive me if this isn't a bug and just a misunderstanding on my part of how it should work, but here's why it seems like it is.

I have a MIDI controller button set to "Track: Set mute for track 01 (MIDI cc/OSC Only)". When I press that button, the track is muted and as expected the Mute button in Reaper is illuminated.

But when I do the same for "Track: Set solo for track 01 (MIDI cc/OSC Only)" the track does indeed get soloed but the Solo button for the track does not illuminate as I would expect.
