Default Video Window: unwanted resizing and glitches on retina screen

I use a dual monitor combination of a full HD and a retina screen.

Videos on the Full HD screen fill the entire video window and resize nicely to whatever video window size I desire.

Videos on the retina screen however show up only on the bottom left corner and make weird glitches when resized.

Full HD 27"

Macbook Retina 15"

Resizing glitches on Macbook Retina 15" (works fine on the other screen):

P.S.: the scope and analyzer have nothing to do with this. They just happen to be in the first video I could grab.

+1 Confirmed in 6.40-6.42

Turning off the "HiDPI" resolution choice in my display settings on the monitor in question fixes this, at the expense of display clarity.

I found out what causes it here.

The problem happens when 'Preferences > General > Advanced UI/system tweaks... > Allow retina drawing of user interfaces' is disabled. If I enable it, the video displays correctly.

Still I wish I could disable it, as the theme I use isn't HiDPI compatible and shows weird artifacts on that screen.
