Default ReaSurroundPan: set color/desc assumes start chan=1

The is a very nice feature in the VST:ReaSurroundPan that allows to set each channel description/color automatically from the source track. Unfortunately it totally ignores the plugin-pin connector schema. It assume that input is pin1-pin1, pin-2-pin2,...pin (n)-pin (n).

For example in one of my projects, I have a "collecting" 34 channels track where channels 1-4 are reserved for various control functions in the project. So I assigned input pins 5-34 (30 channels) to ReaSurround input pins 1-30. If I use the option "set input names/colors from sending tracks", I get the description like if I connected 1-1,2-2,....30-30. In brief it totally ignores the plugin-pin connector patch bay.

Hi!

First: thanks for looking at this problem so soon! That was an unexpected surprise to see an update on this in v6.53!

Ok I tried it and the result is different but unfortunately it's far from what I expected.

Here is explanation of the context in which I use ReaSurroundPan. I am building a virtual choir of 30 choristers and I am using a separate mono channel from each person to send to a collecting track with ReaSurround. The choristers' tracks are grouped in sections to adjust the volume of each choir section (SATB). I am also using 4 control channels: 1&2 are just stereo outputs from ReaSurround, 3 is for guide voice during edition, 4 is master dynamics control from a master voice.

The mapping is the following:

edit: last input should be labeled "unused" instead of "bass 8"

and the result is very different from what the mapping you see on the previous picture:

Ah, shoot. This will be fixed for the next prerelease build, if you want to keep an eye on the prerelease forum and try it out and offer feedback there that would be great.

I am new to prereleases but I guess It wouldn't hurt to give it a try with a portable install. I'll do my best.thx

p.s. Suggestion: since the choristers are in subtracks of each choir section, it would be nice to dig the track names/colors from the leaves of the hierarchy instead of the main trunk. Nice to have but not absolutely essential if too much trouble. BTW the chorister track are sending one channel each to the the parent "sectional (S,A,T or B)" track which transmits multichannels to the main collector track. wooohoo! I smell complex code there... definitely non essential...
