Default Media Explorer Workspace ("Arbeitsplatz") does not show any content (FIXED)

This is not supposed to be a double post - I have posted this under general discussion first but it strongly seems like a bug to me now so I posted here. If this was wrong please excuse me and tell me how to do better next time

The discussion can be found here:

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2556087

Problem description:

******
this has been troubeling me quite some time now and I could not find a solution to this issue. In the media explorer of reaper the "Workspace" Item ("Arbeitsplatz" in my German translation) does not show any content making it hard to browse my drives for the files I need.

I can enter e.g. "d:" in the adress bar and then further go into subfolders but that shouldn't be necessary. Normally I would expect the Workspace to show the different drives and so on...

I suspect something is wrong because when a different folder is selected upon clicking "Workspace" nothing will change...

*******
after deleting REAPER.INI the problem persists.

Fixing! As a workaround if you don't use the german langpack (or remove the Arbeitsplatz line from the explorer section), it should work.
