The latest version of REAPER is 6.58? What version are you running exactly? And could you be more specific about exactly what action causes the problem?

Here is a screenshot of what i have on this track i was recording an acoustic guitar.

There were no inserts on this track or in teh session by the time of the crashes. I opened a backup and made all crossfades one by one and i kept working on this project.

Crashes happen only when i select all media items that have splits and i hit x ( for that sws action to crossfade)

I have a more recent version of sws and it's not crashing afaict. Maybe you just need to update? If the problem persists, you probably need to report it to the sws maintainers.

Please open an issue on the SWS tracker.

Minimal example project to reproduce will probably be helpful.

Thanks! I can duplicate with:
  1. Create two audio or MIDI items
  2. Add an empty take to the second one
  3. Make the items overlap a bit
  4. Select both items
  5. Run "SWS/AW: Fade in/out/crossfade selected area of selected items"
Fixing...
