When you get this hang, open Terminal.app, and type:
Code:
sudo spindump REAPER
it will prompt you for your password, enter it, hit return, then wait for it to finish. It will generate a dump file, can you email that file to support at cockos dot com? thanks!

it should have printed the path in the terminal, e.g.
Code:
Spindump analysis written to file /tmp/REAPER_15783.spindump.txt
(look in /tmp, in finder you can use Cmd+Shift+G and type /tmp)
