"Item properties: Normalize items (peak/RMS/LUFS)..." action ignores item's take channel mode. Calculation is performed on the full multichannel file, regardless of the channel mode selected by a user.
I'd like to use the normalization for occasional balancing of stereo track loudness discrepancies, for which I tend to duplicate the source items to dedicated left and right tracks with the according channel modes selected. All modes except Peak (RMS, LUFS and True Peak) are affected. Reaper v6.59

I think the channel mode is respected when normalizing to peaks, could you confirm that?

For regular peaks the channel mode is indeed respected. True peak normalization, it seems, goes through the same calculation machinery as RMS/LUFS measuring and ignores the mode.
