Initial situation is I have an item with one take and one TM inserted.
Then I split the item (shortcut: Split items at edit or play cursor), then the TM entry in Marker manger is doubled. Every splitting of the item adds an additional TM entry. Why? Or is it a bug? ![]() R6.68/Win10

I think it is because the both new (splitted) items contain whole set of markers (and other content) of original item. You can drag the item somewhere (e.g. second track) and move the left edge to reveal first part of the original content including the take marker. You would have to use glue to keep only visible content.

We can make this behavior optional.

Although not technically a bug - I understand the explanation - but I tend to consider this undesired behavior.
I work with take markers in podcasts because the stay attached to certain words, and will stay with the words when I do edits in a previous section of the podcast (*see below). When the markers get 'doubled' every time I split an item, it is a very unpleasant way to work, as the marker list gets kind of clogged with useless entries. Could we have a check mark 'show visible take markers only' or something simular? Or - approaching this from a different angle - a way to attach normal markers to certain clips instead of timeline positions - fine with me if those markers would be visible on the time ruler instead of on the media item itself as long as they slide along when I change a media items position. I can imagine a lot of podcasters would be happy to have a solution for this implemented. (* As opposite to normal markers, which are not attached to media items, but to a certain timestamp in the project timeline. Therefore, when I do edits in the previous section, the next 'normal' marker would end up referencing words that it has nothing to do with.) Last edited by hajomagre; 10-17-2022 at 05:46 AM. The behavior of split items just got me the other day. The brain tends to perceive each slice as a separate item, but in reality they're trimmed copies of the original item with all its contents. Only gluing turns them unique.

The latest version of REAPER includes an option in the Region/Marker Manager to hide or display take markers that are outside the visible bounds of the media item.
