Hello,
Is it possible to add a take marker while recording? When I'm doing research on the piano for several hours and then recording, I'd like to be able to add a take marker on the fly by quickly pressing a shortcut key when I think the idea is good and I'll have to come back to it later. Thanks

Yes, the actions to add or quick add take markers at the mouse or play position will work on currently-recording items.

Is the mouse down when you are trying to run the action to add the take marker?

I don't use the mouse. I'm at the piano and I press N and nothing happens.

Can you test to see if other actions, assigned to computer keyboard short-cuts, execute properly in the same recording scenario?

"insert marker at current position".
I tested with the action: "insert marker at current position". it works, but if I move the editing cursor while recording, it doesn't work anymore. in the pre-release version of November 15, it seems to have stopped working altogether. quick add take marker... it doesn't work any better

I see you are recording MIDI in the screencap. Does it work when you record audio? Are you recording MIDI to MIDI items in-project (default) or to .mid files?

OK, I think you are recording in MIDI overdub or replace mode? If so, we probably have a fix.

ah yes in overdub
I've just tested in 'audio and midi' recording and the take marker insertion works, but not in midi overdub...

and a quick question,
is it normal not to be able to split the item while recording?

Yes, definitely. While recording it's not even really a media item yet, instead it is a preview of what the media item will be.
