Default record settings changed with V7

hello,

I use these record settings : "record mode:normal", and new recording that overlaps existing media items : "add media items in layers" and "offset overlapping media items vertically".

When I open an old project the settings are changed to (new recording that overlaps existing media items) : "add lanes in layers(multiple lanes play at once)" and "split existing items and add takes(default)"

So I have to change my record settings before recordind to keep the behavior I am used to.

Is this a bug or intended ?

This is essentially a bug.

The issue is that the v6 recording option 'New recording that overlaps existing media items / Creates new media items' was not supported in v7.0, so projects that were saved with that setting were converted to with the v7 option 'Add lanes in layers'.

In v7.03 we added support for 'Add media items in layers' which is essentially the same as the v6 option 'Creates new media items'.

For the next release, we will improve the project loading so that these particular settings will be preserved when loading projects regardless of what version the project was saved in.
