Custon Tags are GONE

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a new computer and imported a Reaper configuration which I exported from my old computer.

All is well EXCEPT that all my custom tags for samples in the Media Explorer are now gone. The samples are there (because they're on a different ssd) but no custom tags.

I've spent hours organizing my files and I really need them back.

Any way to correct this?

do you have access to the old computer?

in the REAPER-resource there is a folder named
MetadataCaches

put this in the resource folder of the new computer

(copy folder mediaDB as well if exists)

though , the filepositions have to match and be the same as in the old computer

Note that "Media explorer databases" is one of the checkboxes in the export configuration dialog. Maybe you unintentionally left it unchecked (it's unchecked by default).

"Media explorer databases" can be saved this way , but the custom tags won't be saved


this could be the time to tune the export/import

Ah, I see. Custom tags saved in databases will be preserved through config export/import, but not custom tags that are added to files that are not in databases.

We'll add support for this. For now, if you can copy the "MetadataCaches" folder from your old REAPER resource path to the new one, it should fix.
