Default BUG: unexpected cursor shift on right mouse click DEV0714

I place the cursor on the grid on the item's body with the left mouse button. And when you quickly press the right mouse button, the cursor moves from the grid to the mouse cursor. I noticed a bug because I split by grid through the item menu. The bug does not exist in version 7.18 exists on all dev versions.
How to reproduce the bug:
1) Snap to grid must be enabled.
2) Place the cursor with the left mouse button on the item.
3) Quickly move the mouse (right or left) and quickly press the right mouse button to open the menu.
4) Do this several times and you will see a strange shift of the cursor to the mouse ignoring grid.

Confirming the behavior (REAPER v7.18+dev0711 x64, Windows11).

Note that to replicate you literally move the item with the left button pressed and held, but not too far to really move it (*) because of active grid snapping.

And then you press the right mouse button while still holding the left one! So at the moment of the behavior both mouse buttons are active/held and then they are released both at the same time!**.

EDIT: * It happens (unintended cursor move) even if you drag the item far enough pass the grid spacing and the item physically moves.

EDIT2: ** Actually, moving of the item is not neccessary to call up mentioned behavior, just left mouse button press+hold at any position on item, then adding right mouse button press+hold and then releasing them both at the same time.

Hmm. Have never noticed, and cannot try this, because I have simultaneous left+right click assigned to (windows) Alt+Tab task switching.

Thank you akademie for the detailed investigation, I checked, you are right. But the behavior needs to be corrected, I hope the developers will look at this problem when they return to the DEV versions.

Do you have the default mouse modifiers set for media item left-click and left-drag?

.. ahh, never mind, I see why this is, fixing.
