Default 7.27 broke recall of VPS avenger patches for me

Since updating to 7,27, a vsti I use frequently called VPS Avenger is not recalling correctly since this update, the patches are being altered in some way - they sound wrong. This issue persists in all projects that use this vsti, ranging from recent projects to ones from years ago. I haven't updated or altered the vsti recently, so it's definitely REAPER that's causing the issue. The issue might be affecting other vsti's too, I haven't checked all the ones I use yet.

I'm assuming it was something in this section of the update -

VST
-fix incorrect preset state-loading for UADx VST3 plug-ins (7.26 regression)
-improve preset menu behavior with duplicate factory and user-preset names
-improve support for TrackFX_GetPresetName on FX with a single program

I've had to roll back to 7.26 to fix this.

I'm using Win10x64. I've checked the latest pre-release and the issue persists, I'm really hoping whatever the issue it is it doesn't get rolled forward into ongoing updates as it's going to cause major issues for me.

Could other affected users confirm that 7.26 works correctly?

I'm emailing the developer of that plug-in now.

I can confirm, I had to switch back to that version. I frequently use this plugin and had never had any issue prior to v7.27

Cool thanks, can you test 7.20 too just to confirm it works properly?

Yes, I can confirm, it works perfectly on v7.20.

Btw, reverting to previous versions for some reason seems to have broken SWS for me, as well as other stuff (the reference paths to vsts), so I guess I'll have to figure how to fix that now...

Ok, SWS and the VST references are fixed now.

Just so you know, this error with Avenger really sucks, because if you open a project on v7.27 and you save it the track configuration saves messed up (you cannot go back to the configuration you had on the VST before). Luckily, I think I only saved one project which I can mostly build back from backups, but I would guess other people aren't being that lucky, and are saving their projects and losing their plugin configuration on those tracks.

Can confirm 7.20 works fine for me too. I checked a bunch of the releases heading back to around 6.78 and it worked fine every time, it's definitely something in 7.27 that's caused it.

Thanks for looking into this Justin!

Thanks for this — try the latest +dev build via the prerelease forum, should fix!

Yikes. Thanks for discovering this and to the devs for acknowledging this and scheduling a fix. Just about to start work on an old project that uses avenger. Phew. Will hold off

Had the same problem with Empirical Labs Arouser. Rolled back to 7.25 - all good.
