Default Is Midi Export broken?

Today I am required to export my project as midi, but no matter what I try, the export fails.

How do I know that it fails? because the generated .mid file is rejected by reaper itself (could not import 1/1 items) and is rejected by this other application: https://signal.vercel.app/edit. It says "unrecognized midi event type byte 242"

What I've tried:
- Exporting on my linux installation of Reaper
- Exporting on my Windows installation of Reaper
- Exporting on my Windows installation after updating Reaper to the latest version
- Each time I tried several different options on the export dialog

Have you tried to export midi via the MIDI editor File Menu?

That is, open the selected midi track in the midi editor (double click the track), and then use File/Export Midi.

Does that work?

Could you post the exported midi file here, or link to it?

[edit] ah, I think the MIDI in your project was recorded from hardware, maybe? There are some real-time messages (song position pointer) that REAPER is writing out to the .mid file, that we should instead ignore. We'll fix this in both places, so we don't write the messages to file in the first place, and so we can import files that do contain the messages anyway.

Thank you, Schwa

I tried exporting a stripped down version that contains only standard midi content, from midi editor and as project, but neither is importable still what could I be doing wrong?

The latest pre-release build includes the fix for this problem, if you'd care to try it out. Feedback goes in the pre-release forum. https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=22836
