Hello and thank you for reading.
When rendering a project and the files already exist, one can choose to automatically increment the filename by number. However then the extension is missing in the filename. As seen in the attached images, no ".WAV" at the end. Very minor, but nevertheless a bug. Tanks! Last edited by clkdiv; 10-24-2025 at 04:56 AM. |

This is a bug, yes. I believe it only occurs when rendering to a two formats at once (like wav and mp3). Fixing, thanks for the report.
[edit] the fix will be in 7.49, which should be released today or tomorrow. Last edited by schwa; 10-24-2025 at 05:06 AM. |

Hello and thank you very much for the fix and reading!
Unfortunately there might be still an issue: When creating a new version of a project, there is a project counter increased. Like so: soundscape2_004.rpp So the project name has its own counter for versioning, in this case 004. This is really great. But now, after the fix, this interferes with the counter for the rendering. Before the fix the renderer created autonames by ADDING a number to the project name, like so: soundscape2_004_001.wav soundscape2_004_001.mp3 . . soundscape2_004_002.wav soundscape2_004_002.mp3 and so on. That's how it was and should be, right? However since last version 7.49 I get autonames like that for my project "soundscape2_004.rpp": soundscape2_012.wav and soundscape2_012.mp3. This is wrong, I suppose. Where is the project versioning number gone, the 004? It should be: soundscape2_004_012.wav and soundscape2_004_012.mp3 So the fix truncates something from the projects filename. This might maybe arise naming conflicts and even result in accidently overwriting files? See attached images. Thank you so much! Martin Last edited by clkdiv; 10-27-2025 at 06:41 AM. |

I think it has always been the case that if the project name is myproject_002.rpp, and you render a wav file named after the project, and myproject_002.wav already exists, and you choose to increment the rendered filename, the result is myproject_003.wav.
In some past versions it may have been the case that projects were auto-incremented as myproject_000.rpp and rendered files were auto-incremented as myproject-000.wav (with - instead of _), in which case the result would be myproject_002-001.wav. But in more recent versions, the same auto-increment format has been used for projects and rendered files. We'll think about the best way to handle this. For now, you can work around the issue by adding any character or string to the end of the rendered filename pattern in the render settings dialog. For example. $project- or $project_render. |
