Default Buttons in right click menu

You get different buttons depending on where you click, track view, item, piano roll etc and we could even have buttons in sub menus.

Yep.

http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=1537

Already did that one

Well, not exactly on right click, but this would be customizable to whatever.

I read your FR and maybe we could merge them, after all we already have all these context menus we can edit. Why not use what's already there?

Advantages I can see are :

- Right click is... one click :-)
- When the action is done the menu / buttons disapears.

There are buttons I want to always see and others I want out of my way when done.

Take it one step further - let the user remove ALL the stupid text menus and simply have ONE neat window appear to the side of the cursor, containing all the buttons the user wishes to have in this box for super quick editing. This would be a user customizable thing so those who prefer to have it the way it is right now can still choose to do so.

Then I say +1.

Why not any combinaton the user wishes to have? You want buttons + menu entries, only buttons, only menu entries, only sub menus with buttons, buttons + sub menus with buttons - sky is the limit.

Right now we can't remove all entries in a menu but it is almost possible as we can leave only a separator or a title.

So you only have a series of buttons and one menu entry:

I would like only buttons / transparent background.

Hmm, I'd like context buttons only, but I don't want to ditch my full-fledged text context menus. I can never get enough it seems

Why not have, say, ALT + right click open my fancy context buttons and normal right click open my ordinary context text menu? Or the other way 'round (a "ALT toggles" preference).

I'm all for more options, so if we add modifiers to the concept it'll give us ultra flexible menus.

But I would like to have any combination if i want :

Only menu entries.
Buttons and menu entries.
Only buttons.
Only sub menus with buttons.
Buttons + sub menus with buttons.
Buttons + sub menus with buttons and menu entries.
Buttons + sub menus with buttons + menu entries.
Buttons + sub menus with buttons and menu entries + menu entries.

This really is infinite.

AND

6 modifiers:

Ctrl
Shift
Alt
Ctrl + Shift
Ctrl + Alt
Shift + Alt

To change from one state to another or from one set of buttons to another or...

Why dont we go crazy :-)

Oh yeah, coming from SONAR, I can't wait for this to be implemented, only in a better way ;-) and as I can see it's on the right track.
