Waveform display bug when zooming

When zooming in and out the waveform display totally changes on a particular item.

Its a stretched rx2 file, if that makes a difference, though I use lots of them and haven't encountered this before. The error only occurs at one zoom level, if I continue to zoom in or out it displays properly again (filled item)...

Waveforms vanish when zooming, sometimes they appear when splitting, sometimes they disappear when splitting

The project I'm working on has 75 tracks, I really need to reliably know what's there and what isn't.
(All three of these examples are rex files btw. I think it happens with waves too, but can't remember.)

A few more examples in case it helps getting to the bottom of it. I'll only post more if it happens in a different situation.

At the moment it happens when zooming in or out, and sometimes things appear with splitting and sometimes they disappear. Mostly happens with REX files, but the examples no fish posted seem like the same issue with different file types so I don't think it's exclusively a REX issue.

Confirmed!

I loaded 5 tracks of wav files. Zoomed in, to add markers.Zoomed out, and the peaks on 2 of the three tracks disappeared!

The peaks only show up when I'm zoomed in all the way.

Once I saved the project and moved all media into project folder, the peaks started appearing without any glitch. But I ought to be able work on projects without out having to save them ,or have to put them in a project folder!

don't know if this is still happening for others, though running Reaps on my XP laptop, and got issues with waveform dissapearing

don't know if this'll help anyone, but I solved MY issue by properly configuring the alternate peak cache in prefs>path - i had a non-existant directory assigned, which cause the problems

I'm using an alternative directory, but it does exist.

The fact that we both use a separate directory could be a common denominator for the problem. Hopefully it can help Cockos fix it...

Just a heads up that Justin's looking into this and I posted a test project but he's not able to reproduce. I'm hoping anyone else inflicted with vanishing waveform syndrome can try the test project also.

(the test project is in this post, just rename the .zip file to .rar before extracting)

I don't think I've gotten this since the fixes were re-introduced until today.

Pretty much the same issue as before. It's an old project, but the file is newly added (.rx2).

Ah, rx2 have a lot of their own peaks handling. Send me a minimal project with media?

Thanks, fixing! Combination of rx2-all-slices and looped items, and not-zoomed-too-far-in.

Unfortunately I'm getting a similar bug now.

In both cases below these are looped items (wav) so both sides should look identical, but when switching zoom levels the waveform display changes and they look considerably different.





If helpful I can reduce the project to these two files and email a copy to support...
