I would use it with the knob. Looks awesome. I do agree that a verticle fader would suit me better. Maybe a small vert fader and a small pan knob at the top or bottom of it.

It may not be ideal, but I think it's a novel solution for dealing with such limited space in the TCP. That said, I'd personally prefer the earlier versions.

If you were to ask me the most important features of the TCP would be (in order):

1. Mute/Solo
2. Record
3. Input monitoring
4. Gain
5. Pan
6. Source
8. Automation
9. Output
10. Pan width

I think the earlier mock-ups better prioritized my own favorites in the TCP, but the newest one gives me everything I'd need in as small a space as possible. So, while it may not be the way I'd do it, it's probably getting the most bang for the buck.

I think this is pretty much what I would say too.

But don't forget that V4 can have multiple layouts on the TCP. He can have a full all info panel that needs to use a bigger area... and he can have a smaller one that has something small with no knobs.

It would also be awesome to have a super tin side bar when you have about 20-25 pixels that has a vert Name tag only. For those people that use dual monitors and will always have there Mixer open. :-)

what´s about tcp track names above the buttons?

and in the actual track name you could put a true horizontal fader...knobs only for pan and width?

pd: tcp width knob is not necesary for me...

This theme is outstanding!

What about a "repeat" button in the transport? :-)

está increible!!! . Love your themes man!, this will be my default for sure!.

What about if you put the name of the region you´re currently on on the transport bar, in that space with nothing on? just a thought hehe, cause it would let you know where you are quickly without having to stop listening to your mix to search on the Track view

I think this is a very logical an well thought out layout
For those that want faders instead of knobs, use the "inspector" that way you get decent long throw faders instead of stupid size compromised faders.
Plus you get a full Chanel strip with all send and fx and its really not even using much more space than having decent horizontal faders .

I'd be happy to have a hack around with some of the code and concepts.
But my graphics skills are limited as is my time.

@brainwreck:

I think it's a really good idea to move the buttons up to the empty space. But the master fader should stay where it is (or at the left side, which I prefer).

Beta testing now.

Ive got a fully functional version going, that remains very true to jhrv's concept.

ill polish it up and PM it back to jhrv soon, and he can decide what he wants to include in the final release

Would love to help test this. Don't know what graphics I can do, but I can find some time to tinker if needed. As a Sonar user, I'm pretty excited about this theme!

Really a great job guys! Props Jhrv!

My only turn off is the miss of the FX button in the TCP (but maybe i am doing something wrong), and, obviously the toolbar icons (but i am sure that will be updated soon!)

Thanks guys!

great job but a bit of a no-go for bigger monitors as i cant seem to get the fader/meter area of the mcp to resize, meaning the fader throw is tiny :-/ can this be made to scale up?

I really love this theme. Applause for jhrv, for all the work he did!
One thought: wouldn't it be more clear when you do not use the zero-line in the mixer panel (which is covered by the fader in the zero position...) and instead use a thicker/wider line (at the zero position) to the scale left to the fader?

The Reaper theme might add a parameter to suppress the ugly numbers on the VU of the mastertrack...
And of cause a better solution for the toolbar (it would indeed be ideal to be able to dock it in the transport).
For the docks the Reaper team might have a look at Soundforge or Audition, which implemented docking in a very flexible way.

Nice desktop.

I played around with this theme for a while and I have some nags. These are probably mentioned by others already:

-To access track FX, you need to have the mixer visible. It would be so much easier to have the button on tcp.

-Grid lines are little messy for my eyes (but that's probably just me and I think I can change that myself ).

-See gif:

The folder buttons are confusing in some tcp heigths.

Also in that gif:

-Selecting a track does not change anything visible (that I could see). There's no way to differentiate which track(s) is/are selected and which are not.

Looks good nevertheless.

agree, or just make the zero line wider than the fader cap.
