OK, I'm a drummer (strike one) and I'm brand spanking new to this side of the glass, so to speak.

...and now my dumb@$$ question: How do I stop the onboard metronome from recording to the tracks? In fact, why is it that a recorded and disarmed guitar track, for example, also winds up on the bass track (for example)?

What neophytical cockup am I committing?

Thanx in advance.

I actually had time to give it a go last night, and guess what?? (crickets chirping)
I plugged my ft ultra into my $299 acer netbook, pulled up Reaper, set levels and it worked!. THen, I played it back via an output on the ftu thru my bose pas and it sounds great! No hiss! I'm in business! Time to cough up my license money asap! Thanks Reaper! It's so much easier to set good levels than with analog tape!!!!!!!!!

This is all nice and such but... where do I get the sounds from anyway?! I just want to start off but I don't even know how I can get all the sounds ready.

Default Another Noob here...

Thanks for this thread...I must have bumped my head on the way into this forum because I didn't see this when I first got here. I know I know, rookie mistake. Thanks a bunch again for the very much needed info.
